My love affair with quilts has been going on for over a decade. Just like thousands of women over the centuries, I was shown the art of quilting from dear friends and mentors. Since then, many wonderful quilters have entered my life. We have shared our life stories while quilts have blanketed our laps and scraps piled up at our ankles. It is to all of these wonder women that I wish to thank for inspiring me and teaching me not only about quilts but about life.
From my first introduction to quilting, my love for color, design, fabric, texture and style has continued to grow. Through many years of quilting, I have learned that there are also many lessons to be learned when making a quilt:
- Vision - Selecting patterns and fabric and forseeing a quilted creation teaches us about having vision and creating a masterpiece our of the pieces of our lives.
- Patience - Nothing teaches patience in life more than when we need to rip out a seam or re-do a quilt block over, and over until we get it right.
- Laughter - Only when we can laugh at our mistakes or laugh at ourselves or laugh in a group can we understand the diversity of humor in our lives.
Just as any painter, poet or musician would confess about their art, a quilter would confess that a quilt comes from one's heart and soul. I hope that my designs warm your heart and the hearts of those who receive the work of your hands.
